2018 CSA Newsletter – Week #3

Notes from the Farm – 6/25/18:

Looking ahead on your calendar: The 4th of July falls on a Wednesday this year, so we’ll move our normal Wednesday delivery next week to Tuesday, July 3rd. All other pick up days and hours will remain the same. And of course, if you need to switch your pick up for that week or any other week, please let us know a week in advance so we can plan accordingly.

The first zucchini and cucumbers are in!  We’ll have just a couple of each for you thisweek, and expect that in we’ll have a heavy harvest coming in the weeks ahead as the plants begin to produce quite a bit.  Lettuce, kale, chard, herbs continue to look great and fill up our harvest bins.

Planting continues throughout the season with successions of greens, herbs and roots.  the final tomatoes are in the ground, while the earliest tomatoes are being pruned weekly and showing their first green fruit.  Beets and carrots are sizing up, so they will soon join the harvest, green beans are flowering and our spring peas are finished.  We’ll plan for a fall planting of peas this year so we’ll have more to pick there later in the season.  This week in the U-Pick the dill and cilantro is there for you, with basil and beans likely to be ready in a few weeks.

Best,
Farmer Steve and our Farmers: Alyssa, Dan, Kayla, Chloe, Jenn, Becca, Michaela
