Massaro Community Farm Keep farming, feed people, build community November 16, 2022 Notes From the Farm Our first real frost of the season came early Monday morning as temperatures dropped to 28°, and then again to 25° the next day. The colder temperatures bring out the sweetness in some of our crops, like carrots and kale, as the plants convert starches to sugars in order to protect themselves from freezing. We are still harvesting crops from the field, including carrots, beets, kohlrabi, cabbage, radishes and arugula; and our unheated high tunnels are filled with crops we’ll harvest through the rest of the fall and over the winter months until spring. There are a just a couple of Thanksgiving mini produce bundles available in our GrownBy store, and you can still order turkey raised on pasture in CT from Ramble Creek Farm, with pickup here at along with the produce bundles on Monday, November 21, 12:30-5:30pm. Order by November 19. -Farmer Steve and our Farmers: Alyssa, Alanna, Ariel, Cass, Hali, Kayla, Leah, Maia, MC Thanksgiving Produce Bundle Turkey Pre-Order This Week’s Anticipated Harvest: Winter Squash, Carrots, Potatoes, Kale, Kohlrabi, Arugula, Radishes, Fennel or Beets CSA parking area/pickup images See images below for…
