Thank you to our Dinner on the Farm guests!
THANK YOU DINNER ON THE FARM GUESTS
Hurricane, what hurricane?
Hurricane, what hurricane?
In spite of the looming threat of Hurricane Hermine on Labor Day weekend, September 4th dawned bright, sunny and without a lick of wind for our annual farm-to-table dinner. We were able to give our 175 guests the red-carpet treatment, including a tour of what’s new in sustainable ag with Farm Manager Steve Munno, a signature cocktail made with farm elderberries, a world-class meal prepared by Denise Appel (of Zinc New Haven) served at tables set among the fields and flowers of Massaro Community Farm.
This year, we were able to raise just over $55,000 in support of the farm’s continued mission to feed people and build community through our regular food donations to area hunger relief agencies, farm-based educational programs and community events. We are only able to do this because of the time given by our many volunteers, the outstanding generosity of long time partners Zinc and New England Brewery, and the support of corporate sponsors like Fair Winds Farm (owners of Lock, Stock & Barrel and The Woodbridge UPS Store). This means that almost every dollar you contribute, whether through the purchase of ticket, bid on a silent auction item or pledge to become a sustaining member goes directly to support our mission.
2016 marks a special year as we celebrate 100 years since the Massaro Family arrived in Woodbridge. We have two primary goals between now and March, 2017:
1) recruit 100 new sustaining members of the farm with a pledge to give $100/year for the next five years; and
2) raise at least $175,000 to be used towards a program pavilion and support capacity building on the farm.
Won’t you join us?
Our sincere thanks to those who attended the dinner and already made a pledge!
