Nature Journaling & Drawing this Sunday
July 31, Aug 7 & 14
4 – 6 pm
Last week we kicked off a series of connecting with the natural world through journaling and drawing. You’re invited to join us this week for the second installment of this series with senior Peabody instructor, Linda Miller.
We will focus on contouring drawing and writing prompts. We’ll take advantage of the great weather to explore the farm. If you missed last week you’re still welcome to join this series at any time. Bring your own portable stool or use a folding farm chair.
Class fee includes sketch book, sketching pencils and eraser. Only cancels if there is steady rain. Wear closed toed shoes for walking around the farm. $15-$35/pp.
Adult Beekeeping
Sat, August 20
9-10:30am
How are your hives faring in this period of drought? Just like humans, bees get very thirsty and it’s important to check on them, test for mite count, treat if necessary, and ensure they have a source of water nearby. A shallow water trough with some stones in it will give them the water they need and keep them from drowning.
Join us for the upcoming installment of caring for your bee hives, where we’ll focus on maintaining the health of your hive and taking steps necessary now to prepare it for the coming cooler weather.
Led by Ted Jones of Jones Apiaries. RSVP to let us know you are coming. Suggested donation of $10/pp at the event to support apiary management and beekeeping education at the farm. Veils available for your use. Wear a bee suit or long sleeves, long pants and closed-toed shoes for beekeeping workshops.

Dinner on the Farm Returns
Saturday, September 10 ~ 4:30pm
Our renowned farm-to-table dinner returns for its twelfth year! We’re excited to announce the return of this seasonal farm-to-table meal, featuring the farm’s organic vegetables and other locally produced meats, cheeses and libations. Proceeds directly support our food security efforts.
Each year Massaro donates between 6,000-10,000 pounds of organic produce – the equivalent of 5,000-8,300 meals – to local hunger relief agencies.
Includes appetizers, multi-course meal (catered by Seasonal Catering), dessert, coffee & tea. Open bar. The day’s activities include a farm tour, live music and silent auction. $125/pp. Limited seating.
Summer Youth Crew 2022
Our Summer Youth Crew (Alex, Aliah, Bella, Bobby, Faith, Morrigan, Steven plus volunteer, Halvor) has been working hard and reached the half way point in this year’s program. We checked in with our crew leaders, Cass Darrow and Mary Claire Whelan, to see how things are going, especially in view of recent hot days.
Cass and MC report an incredibly positive outlook from the crew on their experience thus far. The crew enjoys learning about new vegetables and have taken home produce to cook for their families to enjoy. The youth crew typically comes on board at the end of June, just when harvest and general chores really ramp up for the rest of the farm staff. Youth Crew is responsible for maintaining the u-pick field, filled with herbs, flowers and cherry tomatoes. They have also been harvesting most of the summer squash crop, and have picked thousands of pounds to fulfill our CSA subscribers shares!
