Growing UP fast- Last Chance for Teacher Field Trip

Springtime Transitions

If you walked through our high tunnels this past week, you saw the tangible transition from winter to spring. We had plenty of greens growing in the tunnels the last several months, which provided a steady supply to restaurants. Now that staffers completed harvesting the last of over- wintered crops, the tunnels will soon be ready to receive all the spring seedlings we’ve been starting in the greenhouse.
During this brief spell between winter and spring, we feel gratitude at what these enclosed cathedral spaces yield for us, even during bleak, gray months. So the tunnels will rest a bit before we bring in the new crops of carrots, lettuces and, of course, tomatoes and see them once again, giving us the gift of their produce. In the mean time, we are happy to be able to donate many crates of kale and lettuce to our friends through CT Food Bank.
