Six talented comedians will tickle your funny bone from the stage at the Strand Theater in Seymour. Doors open at 6:30pm; show begins at 7:00pm. Last year’s show sold out; purchase tickets early! $30/pp. Evening includes a cash bar and 50/50 drawing.

Maple Sugaring

There’s still room to visit the farm for the Basics of Maple Sugaring on March 11 at 2:00pm for an outdoor hands-on workshop. Learn to tap your own maple trees and make delicious maple syrup. Go over basic tools for tapping and learn about each step in creating maple syrup. Includes sampling of maple syrup at various stages of processing. This event will take place rain or shine; only heavy snow or icy conditions will cancel. If weather allows, we can check out the taps in the farm woods. $20/pp.
Now Hiring:
2023 Summer Youth Crew
Apply now to be a member of our 2023 Summer Youth Crew. The youth crew works side by side with the rest of the farm staff to grow vegetables and tend to our chickens. This is an hourly position with a pay rate of $15/hr. The program runs Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday mornings from 8am-12pm. The youth crew will start on Tuesday, June 20 and finish on Friday, August 11. A more detailed description can be found on our website.
Interested applicants should send an email Youth Crew Supervisor MC Whelan with the subject line “SUMMER YOUTH CREW APPLICATION.” Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until all positions are filled.

Gardening Workshop

Did you miss out on our first Garden Workshop that focused on seed starting? You’re in luck, we are hosting this workshop again at the Derby Library, 313 Elizabeth Street. Join Massaro Community Farm and Master Gardener Rachel Ziesk to help guide you on your journey of starting seeds. This class is open to everyone but is also meant to encourage participation in the Valley Community Gardens. FREE. Please let us know you’re coming!
Build a Fairy House

Celebrate Spring 2023

The farm is seeking vendors and fairy house builders for Celebrate Spring 2023! Celebrate Spring is the official seasonal opener of the farm where organic farm seedlings are on sale, and visitors can walk the farm trail to find dozens of fairy houses. Artisan vendors offer up everything from boutique body lotions to hand carved spoons to books to fairy crowns.
This annual event draws at least 500 visitors!
Fairy houses must be dropped off at the farm by May 17. Those interested should reach out to coordinator, Dylan Vitale via email or call the farm office at (203) 736-8618.

Our 2023 CSA subscriptions are ready for purchase. Sign up at our GrownBy page, or print out our CSA Registration Form. Signing up now is extremely helpful to us in our planning for the season. We are offering sliding scale pricing once again, so you can self select the tier that fits for you. And while payment in full is helpful for us, you can start with a deposit and then pay the balance in the spring, or choose a weekly or monthly payment plan, with automatic payments made through a credit card. Thank you for helping us get a start on the 2023 season!

Beekeeping Returns

We are buzzing with excitement to announce this season’s schedule of beekeeping workshops. Join apiarist Ted Jones to learn the ins and outs of caring for your own hive. Our first workshop will focus on package and nuc installation. If weather permits we will perform a hive inspection.
All six workshop dates can be found on our website together with a description for each one. Following March, all other workshops will begin at 9am.
These workshops are focused on hobbyists, backyard beekeepers and those considering beekeeping; all levels welcome. Appropriate for ages 10+. Suggested donation $10 per person at the door.
